P.ulse Roc.kband Auditions
Ok so this is supposed to be the sad post, haha. But den somehow alot of sad things become not so sad already, it's like alot of negatives have been diluted or squared. Id carry on somehow.

Firstly, Pul.se auditions! =) Ok this is not sad news, ok la mayb a Little disappointing but actually nothing much la. P.ulse auditions is audition for some rock band concert in my school, organised by the cip exco and yeah it is named pulse. I only found out the name few days before the auditions.
So, i was invited to join john kan's band as a 'foreign talent' haha cos they had no bassist! So i cut the crap and go on to the main part. Here's the crux: "eh my bass playing not bad eh =PP" hahaha.. no la not kidding only. okay just kidding, you decide haha. I think for a noob i ain't bad already, haha. The thing im most proud about myself is that i came out with many parts of the music myself! haha! im like waaa damn happy. David told me to use chords so i did.
When John invited me i was hesitant at first la, wa band playing, no experience. Den i thought about it, hEy maybe that's God's way of giving me a chance to get started in serving him in his ministry! i got excited about that,means someday i can go play in worship sessions already! Serve God! AWesomeness man! I agreed to play right away, heck about playing skills He'd teach me how to play haha.
Here's all the thanks first: thanks to all the ppl who helped me/supported me/came down to watch me! thanks huiwen for coming to watch our practice and give feedback, u didnt miss anything on the audition day cos it was much lousier! =P thanks the 76 ppl and John for inviting me to join their band, thanks to my juniorclass/class for supporting me during auditions! thanks david! for your nice bass and all your playing tips! haha really helpful dude! Thanks letitia!! for coming down too tho it's soo out of the way! =) really appreciate it. Samuel eh thanks dude too for always being there and being pro-AC! all the way! i can't go on cos there are just too many. This was a bad paragraph to type. Thanks for all the ppl who gave us feedback! thanks. Ah yes thanks Kaiqian for staying to listen too! And for forming me a fanclub..haha. Thanks Jacob and Samuel for your v good feedback! Thanks John for lending me your amp, 2 days before auditions but still good enough, saved me totally! i could practice!
Let me undigress. So, yeah. Oh wait thanks to my cousin for teaching me how to play the bass! =) and thanks Creed and Eagles for your MTVs! really provided showmanship inspiration. Ok anyway, yeah the chord charts and tabs i downloaded from the internet sucks!! I had to change like friggin 85% of every tab, i really wonder how they can play and still find it correct enough to be posted online. OH wait btw the songs we played were: Greenday- wake me up when september ends, Creed- with arms wide open, Dishwalla- Angels or devils. Sept tabs were okay, the song bass part nothing much either, can't fancifulize the song. Angels or devils and Dishwalla were like whoaa damn fun to play! I totally couldn't play at all the first time we practiced the songs, cos the friggin tabs all problematic, and no bar lines/tempo/beat/trebleclef/beensprouts how to read and keep timing!!?? Took me awhile to get used to it. Had to translate the numbers into alphabets.
Oh anyway bass guit rather easy to learn for me, much easier den double bass in fact..haha they are almost the same! k vibrato is different method, i only figured after auditions. Anyway our band was okay la i think we're good! thinking of going studio to record the songs we play someday. Btw we didnt get thro the auditions, our singer wasn't fantastic enough for the judges la. Damn funny start singing only out of tune, den john had to say " roger roger! out of tune! " John is our lead guitarist btw, with james guitarist daniel drums Roger singer and me bass.
OH and i figured the veeryy fantastic sounding bass part for angels and devils!! haha! it's like whoaa sounds and looks super pro laa!
OK so on the audition day itself, we were 8th band to perform. Alot of the band okay only la. Not really fantastic. Got one girl band, big deal the guitarist is chio and that's the best(and only good) thing about the band. Oooo, got one band played Angels and Devils too!! haha. the bassist.. tsk tskkk. i duno wat rubbish she playing. She just playing the first note of every chord repetitively, and until the beautiful solo section.... everyone just kept on playin the same notes!! like wthhh! hahaha my band so amused we couldn't help laughing. We aren't being arrogant la. We know our standards man! Must admit we ourselves ain't wonderful either, we're just amatuers who are doing this for the fun of it. Jamming IS fun!
Anyway yeah our band played, Roger went off tune for first stanza..haha.. Daniel broke his favourite drumsticks =( his first pair in fact. Must be really sad. I screwed up too played wrong notes and on angels devils the part right before the beautiful part. I braindied and was like ' OH SHIT... wats next!!!!??? " den halfway thro i rmmberd OHH the solo! but shit la stressed already. I did play it. but rather soft not prominent enough to wow people. Nobody noticed =(. Anyway the balance on the day of performance was... OKAy. Drummer still not enough dynamics. Guitarists also, and not enough expression. Guitarists and bassist we both don't let our notes ring long enough. Drummer abit too loud still. Singer can't hear! Can't really blame him cos the mike was small and amp was sucky. his voice low too so v hard to hear.
Ah man, we didn't get thro auditions. Kinda disappointed. I thought the idea of being able to go up and perform on stage would be fun. Oh yeah during practice we tried U2 Vertigo too. Not really easy to play! haha. And we played That Thing You Do. I was thinking if we did get thro i can sing that song! and dedicate it to my class, those who left and those who are left. That was our song during 2005 orientation. I'm still practicing it now, fun to play, and has significance too. I treasure things that carry significance.
If you want the mp3 recording of our practices just ask from me online! =) Not very good la the sound quality, neither is the playing quality good haha. But overall nott badd la. Use a lousy earphone to not be able to hear all the fine (offtune/wrongnotes/bad) details. We should be going to record in studio someday! =))) Tell me if u're interested to come and watch!
