I just realized that there can never be privacy on the internet. I'm not talking about hackers, just ordinary people.
First method to keeping a blog private is to make it esoteric. But then again, there'd always be people who would link you, which means there would be a chance of random people linking linking and linking till they reach you somehow.
Hence, to prevent people's access by linking, you can ask your friends not to link you. That should work well, but darn too late now.
There's the password method, but you can bypass that if you know how to. But not many people noe how to so its actually quite effective, but the bad thing is that it deters the 'accepted' visitors too. I know it works, it has worked. Those who can't get the password would den go around asking friends who may know me for it.
Then, there's the search engine, darn irritating. Google yahoo or what have you. These aren't as dangerous, its the blogger search engine that's dangerous. Who knows? maybe someone might just search for 'hc str.ings' in his/her firefox browser in 3am in the morning or something and end up here just like that. >=/ Den again that person maY be a regular here, but den no regular would search for strings since no one in strings should know about this, cept maybe David or Mi.ngtse. ( dunno how they got here either )
To counter the search-engine-intruders, perhaps i would distort certain keywords or names that people would usually search for haha.. by putting dots in the midst of words etc.. hey why not? i think it works =) Example "We.ixua.n".. Im sure you can find plenty of other examples throughout this post..practice in progress. Maybe id backtrack to all previous posts and do the same
Anybody can find their way here, maybe someone as random as Wee.yin could be reading this blog, but nah that's not my point.
If you're a stranger and you find your way here somehow, ok good congratulations for your achievement, I can't do anything about it but hey id appreciate if you could just keep quiet about this place then. Some people jus are just more reserved then others. I'd be really glad if you could respect my privacy.
If you don't already know, this blog was not intended for the eyes of anyone that i've known or met only THIS Year (2005). The reason is simple. This blog is meant to update my old pals with my current life. I'm not as open as i used to be in AC, dunno why actually, but there are tonnes of things that i don't tell to people whom i only know this year ( my schoolmates especially ). Maybe something bad, maybe something good, might be me wacking someone, or about me liking someone, or maybe even about a lie that i said in school.
As the alert pop-up thing already says : If i didnt give you this url, then there could be things that you should not know about, for all you know the consequences could be real bad. Maybe your attitude towards me might even change completely. You may hate me, feel disgusted about me blabla i wouldn't know. I do have a split personality to a certain extent, less now but still have. I'm different when i step into H.C.
If you're just here cos you're nosey about my personal life ( ie love-life ) den fat hope haha. you would never find it here either, k maybe bits and pieces, but im cautious about that. You should know i don't talk to people about that, not once in HC have i spoken to anyone about that. Don't bother asking me about it either. ( These don't apply to old friends ).
Just felt like saying this : " anything that you read here remains here and should not be taken out/used/discussed out of this context. Nothing in here should be used against me in real life IF you arent supposed to be here in the first place "
Lastly, regarding anonymity. If you want to post something, be it sarcasm/compliments/caustic remarks, just put your name. Its not like I'd kill you or something. If I see a name, I'd respect whatever you say. I don't argue with people, if you wack me on my tag board that's fine with me, provided you do so as a friend ( put your name ). If you wack me as a friend, i'd see it as more of constructive criticism or anything. I wouldn't hold anything you say against you. Not as if the next time i see you i'd hate you or something. I abide by my words as well, whatever you say on my blog remains there. Id take in your comments and think about it, but i would not talk about it in the 'real world'. Yeah think of it as two different dimensions.
If you wack me using an anonymous then its as good as not posting anything at all cos I'd put no value to whatever you say, for all i know you could be some random person who just stumbled upon my blog, read my posts, formed impressions of me based on what i've typed, and wacked me based on the impressions that you have jus generated. This brings me to my next point.
If you're that impressionistic as to form impressions of people just solely based on what they've typed/talked about in a blog den i really despice and pity you. I assume that the people who know this blog are all people who know me well enough to know what im like, my behaviour and my morals blablabla, and hence i would have more freedom to talk about anything under the sun, without having to worry bout this person that person marking me with a bad image. If you don't know me well enough den you are in no position to post negative remarks.
Here's how to know if you know me well enough :
1. everytime i talk to you, it lasts approximately 25 sentences long, superficial talk such as hi and bye and how are you are not included.
2. i confide in you and tell you about this, my problems, mood, latest happenings, things im unhappy about blabla.
3. I tell you about my personal life, tell you about this cute girl i met on the bus or something like that. If i tell you about my crushes that's nothing much. If i tell you about who i really like then ok you're more den entitled to read this. If i dont, den well maybe its cos you dont ask. If you asked and i still don't tell, den hmm maybe you shouldn't be here.
I like freedom of speech, this is my expression board, whatever you call it. I don't like feeling restricted when i talk here. But, with every 'unwanted' visitor that i have here, i have to be more and more careful when im bloggin about stuff, you know what i mean? So yeah i hope you got my point. this blog is actually only intended for about 10-12 people, dunno never counted before,maybe even less then that, but yeah its a small group and i like it this way. If you're not on of the 'intended readers' den yeah, you get my point.
