post race analysis
date/venue: 6 feb 05 / Bukit Timah Trial
distance: 4 laps - 4 x 6.2km
What went wrongggg:
- chainsuck occured 3 times throughout the race
-never bring money for race tag
-rear quick release went loose on third lap
-didnt practice proper glycogensupercompensation diet plan
-didnt eat enough the day before
-front derailuer not tuned properly
-slid on the first lap due to over braking
-both vastus medialis were near cramping (lower thigh near knee)
-my lats were cramping
-neck muscles aching from canoeing (trapezius)
-4 cuts on left foot, two on right foot, thx to barnacles in kallang river
-shouldnt have gone canoeing on saturday morning
-never trained at all
-rider too lousy =(
What went right:
-completed 4 laps (always do 2 only)
-aerobic performance was no problem
-didnt bonk
-for the first time ate enough breakfast
-wasnt last
-nice dry weather no rain today/yesterday
-fork performance was superb!! love my bike! so plush
-hydrolic brakes have tremendous braking power
-enjoyed myself! =)
-not bad for first race
Ahh damn tired noww la...feeling dazed..still suffering from afterburn..and still stomach ache from all the adrenaline.. will do a quick write up on the race..den have to do homework
woke up 630..ate 2 sandwiches..a cup of rich coffee and one muesli bar..filled up camelpack with 6 packets of H2O and lots of ice..pumped up tyre pressure to 40 psi.. didnt bother to increase fork pressure cos i tink it's plush enough.. 7 o'clock rode down to bukit timah nature reserve..was late by 10 minutes but who cares.
pre-race.. ate a Powerbar-Powergel..tangerine flavour..accompanied with H2O..the taste sUCKsss man.. yucK..went to sign in..Then realize that never bring money for the deposite needed for race tags..somemore parents most likely to be late..heck borrowed from a passer-by..my number tag - 173.. Juniors A Division..
Flag off at 8 am..sian..everyone all the sec 5s.. poly bla bla..wa all siao one ah... start only chiong like mad liddat..i didnt follow..pace myself.. if i follow them i dun even tink i can complete the race..halfway drop dead ah..
Ride ride ride den caught up with this team safra rider..he told me like ' aiya months never ride already man' typical excuse ppl give when being caught by others.. like Ok suRe..but still a team rider..cannot belittle him..rode on den he was quite slack..so i ditched him and went ahead..he did catch up again.. den kanna overtake..aiya sian den my quick release went loose den had to stop..he went ahead obviously..cos he was pissed i didnt wait for him.. wa lau..damn sad la.. i was feeling very lousy..physically..the only thing that kept me going was my pride mannn..waa if i last few den no face liaoz la..so mus wack!! like wth if my self confidence and moral drops to zero ahh.. i might as well pull out of the race already..gameover for e race..but not tt bad la..accepted e fact that i never train and cant expect too much..so shld be please with my performance already.. cant compare to them.. i study..they dont..
Legs died around 3rd lap.. wa all the lactic...burn my leg like crazzzy...its just like doing interval trainings liddat..which i nEver do one...shiong.. but my aerobic condition was good..can breathe..can cycle..the only limiting factor is my stupid legss... my back started to hurt like crazy arnd 3 lap also.. waa damn painn ah..started to walk up few hills...everytime i see hill like ahh sian already..fluid supply was adequate..in fact at the end still got leftover ah.. eh quite cool man... ride ride got so many photographers taking photographs..haha..
i was consistent all the way..not bad la..could last throughout..im glad i didnt chiong the first lap..after i finished my thighs were like cramping liaoz..and so was my back..cannot bend at all man..oh well..never win prize la obviously..cannot expect too much also la..not last can liaoz.. just race for the experience lor =)
feeling kinda sick now..i'd see if i wanna go school tmr morning.. see you
